February Favourites

Little Women is one of the best new movies I’ve seen for a long time. I can now side with those angered that Greta Gerwig was snubbed at the Oscars! This is a beautiful movie that lets you fall in love with all of the characters, that were portrayed perfectly, so much so that I didn’t want it to end. I would absolutely recommend this movie to everyone and anyone. It has the perfect balance of laughs and tears.

Birds of Prey was an eagerly awaited film and I know that there was a lot of pressure on the movie to do well. Although it didn’t hit the numbers the makers wanted in the opening weekend, I personally think they smashed it! The characters were fun and it was entertaining throughout with a storyline full of twists and turns. I especially appreciated (along with so many others) the feminist vibes of the movie; they did girl power the right way. Harley Quinn wasn’t sexualised the way she was in Suicide Squad and they actually developed her as a character with an overflowing and loveable personality instead of being just a piece of eye candy.

One word; CHANGES. The long awaited, highly anticipated album from Justin Bieber dropped on Valentine’s day, 5 years after his last album Purpose. I am a belieber through and through and LOVED this album. For me, it’s like a combination of all of his previous music. I found I was listening to some of the songs and thinking ‘this is like the Journals era’ or ‘this is like the Believe era’. I love that he has created this great R’n’B album which is the music style he’s wanted to make since beginning his music career 10 years ago. I have also enjoyed his docu series ‘Seasons’ which has been featured on YouTube over the last 10 weeks, letting us in on the process of making his album, getting married and working to improve his physical and mental health.

Niall Horan released ‘No Judgement’ in the lead up to his new album ‘Heartbreak Weather’. My favourite 1D member. This is his best solo song so far for sure! The video is fun too. I’m really looking forward to the album which is coming next month.

Murder at the Book Club by Betsy Reavley was a valentine’s gift that combined two of my loves; murder mysteries and books! As soon as I started, I struggled to put it back down and finished it within a few days. The book follows a group of book club ladies who have completely different lives and personalities and it turns out one of them has a taste for murder…but who?

Also, the other day I came across a phone box near my office which has been converted into a book swap station – what a great idea, I had to share! There were shelves installed and so many books were piled up. I hope that we see more of these dotted around the place.

What I’m looking forward to…

We are going to see Sam Fender perform at Alexandra Palace late next month and then will be staying over in London for the weekend.

Disney + release in the UK! Really looking forward to binging on disney movies – what more could you want?!?! I have pre-ordered a year subscription already as they offered a deal which runs until the 23rd March and streaming starts on the 24th.
